What We Collect, and Why
The contact form
When you send a message through our contact page, you give us your name, email address and whatever you write. That arrives as an email, we read it, and we use your address to reply. It is not added to any mailing list, not used for marketing, and not shared with anyone else. Old correspondence is kept only as ordinary email and deleted in the normal course of housekeeping. If you’d like a past message deleted sooner, ask and we will.
Server logs
Like practically every website, the server that hosts this site keeps standard technical logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of request. We use them only to keep the site running and secure (for example, blocking abusive traffic), and they are routinely rotated and discarded.
Analytics
We may use a visitor-counting service such as Google Analytics to understand which pages people find useful — how many visits, which pages, roughly where from. If in use, it is configured for aggregate statistics, not for building a profile of you, and we don’t connect it to anything that identifies you personally. You can block analytics entirely with your browser’s tracking protection or an extension such as Google’s own Analytics opt-out add-on, and the site works exactly the same.
Cookies
This site runs on WordPress, which sets a small number of technical cookies to do its job — things like remembering a screen preference or, for the site’s editors, keeping them logged in. We don’t set advertising cookies, we don’t run third-party ad networks, and we don’t use cookies to follow you around the internet. If an analytics service is in use (see above), it sets its own cookie to tell one visit from another. If you’d rather have no cookies at all, your browser can block or delete them — the articles here read just fine without them.
Links to Other Sites
Articles here link to books and products on retailer sites such as Amazon, and to our own sister sites. Once you follow a link, the destination’s own privacy policy applies — retailers in particular set their own cookies and do their own tracking, which we don’t control and can’t see.
Adults Only
This site contains sexual content written for consenting adults. It is intended strictly for readers aged 18 and over (or the age of majority where you live), and we do not knowingly collect any information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has sent us information through the contact form, tell us and we will delete it.
Your Choices and Rights
Since we hold almost nothing about you, your rights are simple to honour: if you’ve written to us, you can ask what we have (your email), ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it, and we will. Depending on where you live — Canada’s PIPEDA, the EU’s GDPR, or similar laws — these may also be legal rights, and you may additionally have the right to complain to your local privacy regulator.
